It is a gorgeous San Diego day today and  I am feeling absolutely joyful and full of gratitutde! I feel like going to the beach and dancing in the sunshine! First of all, after a sudden abdominal obstruction that landed me in the hospital last week, I am feeling healthy and great again, and without the surgery the doctor’s  thought I would need.  I was thinking about all the experiences of the past week, all the reasons that I am feeling so grateful, and all that I have re-learned.  Here are just a few:

It is such a gift that this got taken care of in time for me to recuperate and get on with my busy Holiday Season healthier and stronger than I was before it happended. I did not know that scar tissue had formed from a previous surgery and had been the culprit in some health issues I was having off  and on. What a gift that I now  know how to take care of that with a special diet, and that the doctors could fix me without surgery.

After 9 days of no food and no beverage, I was brought a cup of hot chicken broth for my first meal. I held the hot cup and the aroma filled my senses, when I took the first sip, it was an explosion of flavor on my tastebuds! It was so warm, soothing and delicious. It was one of the best meals in my entire life!

I felt a little chilly one evening and buzzed the nurse to ask for an extra blanket. She didn’t just drop off a blanket. She took a blanket and had it warmed, then she tucked me in to the warmed blanket like a cacoon. I felt every muscle in my entire body begin to relax and fell into a deep sleep as the pain and chill melted away with the blanket and nurses care.  I wondered going forward, how many tiny things might I be able to do for others that might make some difference in their life or brighten someone’s day. I love that I am the business of delivering joy and uplifting spirits, too!

When I was sipping the first cup of warm broth, that awakened all my senses, and feeling the warmth and relaxation of the warm blanket, I was not thinking of anything else but the pleasures of the present moment! I want to do that more often!!  I will be scheduling present moment times, even during my busy times!

In today’s hectic pace, sometimes we get busy and do not get to see friends and  loved ones  as much as we would like to. It is when we face unexpected challenges that we are reminded how special they are to us, and that they are there for us when we need them! So grateful to K’Ly, Anthony, Lita, Chef Marian  and my family for your love and help last week!

As I was thinking of all these experiences and lessons, Barry brought me an Oprah magazine to read. Her article was about gratitude! She said ” Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters your vibration, moving you from negative energy to positive. It is the quickest, easiest, most powerful way to effect change in your life!”  She said Gratitude is the gift she is giving herself this year. I am going to do the same!

I am starting with gratitude for you! Thank you for being in my life!
