Yummm!

Many people are not yet familiar with the Holiday called Sweetest Day. It is primarily a regional Holiday celebrated  in the Great Lakes Region and parts of the Northeast United States. The observance is beginning to spread throughout the United States as people from the Northeast areas re-locate and start the tradition in their new cities. Sweetest Day is Saturday, October 17th, 2009.

The Holiday was founded around 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio by Herbert Birch Kingston. Kingston was a local candy company employee who wanted to deliver cheer and happiness. With the help of his friends, he delivered candy and small gifts to children in orphanages, and those who were ill, disabled or forgotton.

Once known as a day to lift the spirits of the unfortunate with candy gifts, it is now known as a day to show affection to loved ones. Sweetest Day is described by Retail Confectioners International as “an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whos helpfulness or kindness we have enjoyed.”

We have a selection of festive candy gifts, fine chocolates and chocolate gift baskets like our popular Chocolate Fantasy! Our fine chocolate truffles from The Sweet Shop, are made in small batches and at controlled temperatures. They are the richest, creamiest most decadent of truffles! Chocolate does have a way of lifting spiriits, doesn’t it?

Other great fine chocolate gifts are Jer’s Chocolates, http://www.jers.com/ and Chuao Chocolates  http://www.chuaochocolatier.com/.
